Goa is one of best holiday destinations in India and now there is a weekly direct train to Vasco ( The station nearest to Goa ) from Patna. Train No 2741 will depart from Vasco at 7.10 pm on Wednesdays and arrive at Patna at 12.40 pm on Fridays. On the return journey, the weekly express train No. 2742 will depart from Patna at 2 pm on Saturdays and arrive at Vasco at 10.10 am on Mondays.
While it is a very good move by the Railways , I think 42 hours is a really long journey and Railways should try and reduce the running time to around 36 hours , around the same time it takes for a Patna – Mumbai train.
I would have to say Darjeeling wins this one hands down. Despite all the talk of it having changed so much and unwanted commercialization, all things are considered, it is still the best IMHO among the major hill stations.
While I was walking on the mall road during the afternoon, there was a group of 3 guys singing beautifully a Nepali song which I did not understand but sounded very melodious so I captured some of it, see the video below.
